On 22 July, NMF became aware that the union's report of Skedsmo municipality for breach of the Pollution Act, the Criminal Code and the Public Health Act had been dropped as fines were not appropriate in relation to the municipality.
In our appeal of the closure on 1 August 2019, NMF demanded:
- case reopened
- fining of Skedsmo municipality with NOK 2 million
- explanation of the grounds for closure
- extension of investigation to also apply to Dynea Industrier's dumping of chemical waste in the 70s and 80s
We are shocked by the dismissal of the case on such grounds. The municipality has violated heavy sections of the law for a long time, stated case manager and regional manager in NMF Jan-Hugo Holten to NRK.
