The Norwegian Environmental Protection Association is appealing the County Governor in Nordland's decision to allow Ballangen Sjøfarm AS to increase biomass.
Ballangen Sjøfarm A/S has applied for and received permission from the County Governor of Nordland to increase production at the location Pundsvik in Ballangen Municipality from 3120 MTB to 4900 MTB.'
The Norwegian Environmental Protection Association is now seeing the result of Fisheries Minister Nesvik's gift package to allow the breeders to increase the biomass as a plaster on the wound after the algae die-off in the summer of 2019. More and more such applications for increasing the biomass are now appearing, and the NMF is seeing with the fear that this will of course lead to even greater pollution of previously very polluted fjords.
